Today’s consumers are increasingly turning to social media to find the information that influence their purchasing decisions, as well as share their own experiences with others. From marketing and sales to customer service, the entire experience is going digital, and the success of your brand hinges on how you build your own presence and engage in the social space.

Radian6 provides the leading social media monitoring and engagement platform for marketing, communications and customer support professionals. The company offers several products to enable organizations to get the most from their social media efforts.

With the use of Analysis Dashboard to uncover the top influencers and trends as well as which conversations are having an impact online. We can monitor and engage with your online community easily with the Engagement Console. We also can discover who is talking about you and derive more information from what they are saying with the Radian6 Insights platform.

The best part is to take the pulse of your brand on the social web quickly and easily with the Summary Dashboard. Much more is that it takes the power of Radian6 with Radian6 Mobile.

The product is solid – a flexible interface and what I believe is a unique enhancement with their engagement console (which builds workflow functionality into a TweetDeck-like interface). The price is also reasonable, although as with any paid tool you’d be well advised to consider it against the conversation volume you’re expecting.

For me, the people working at Radian6 are a big differentiator – both the support team, which is responsive and very helpful, but also the leadership who are accessible and open to ideas.

The new Google+ will change the way sharing on the web like sharing in real life. In one go it looks another social media tool in the play ground but when I started working on the tool I was amazed to see the way it works.

Google + came with some interesting features like + CIRCLES / + SPARKS / + HANGOUTS / + HUDDLE . However Google + is in a trial basis but I wish that this should behave like GOOGLE WAVE.

In just 3 weeks of it’s launching it is giving the tight competition to Facebook & Twitter. However Google + isn’t easy to understand and work. It contains lots of features like CIRCLES / SPARKS / HANGOUTS / HUDDLE which can confuses the users. Even advance users get confused with the features realased by G+.

SOME FACTS - However we should not forgot the biggest success in internet history which is ORKUT & YOU TUBE. Another fact is that we should also remember the biggest flops given by Google is BUZZ and GOOGLE WAVE.

Now I ask one question with myself only that why the hell I should waste my time to create the account on G+…

The clear UI. (User Interface). Google also integrates its other cloud products like Google Docs, Calender, Reader.

Level of engagement is high. The relationship between two people should not be visible completely. There should be some privacy.

I am using Facebook from year 2006, and I have seen many changes in the social media networking. But now I want something more….

I had a big friend & professional circle – video chat with more than 2 people.. amazing.. G+ hangouts.

Let’s talk about some of the power pack features of Google+

** CIRCLES - Understanding Circles is essential to mastering Google+. The search giant has opted not to let you simply “friend” your friends, like you do on Facebook, or “follow” different people as you would on Twitter. Instead, Google+ gives you more control over who sees your content.

Circles allows users to drag-and-drop their friends into different friend groups, which categorizes them.

** STREAM AND SHARING CONTENT - Updating your status is a snap — all you need to do is type some content in the “Share” box at the top of your stream and choose who to share it with. In addition to text, you can share photos, videos, links and your location. Like Facebook, Google+ automatically detects the content of the links you share and allows you to choose a thumbnail from that link. – In short a power of FACEBOOK and TWITTER combined.

** SPARKS - HowZZ ThaT !! Now what to share 1st on G+. Google every topic that suits you. But you can find out anything what suits you.

** HANGOUTS – The killer app is here by G+. I believe the most strong feature available on net. It’s a big revolution – THE GROUP CHAT.. Maximum of 10 people can do video chat together. So check your hair and make sure your mic works…

** PHOTOS - G+ comes with a fully-built photo albums product, powered by the technology behind Picasa (also owned by Google). Well all I can say complete copy of Facebook photo tool…. copy cats.

** PRIVACY – Profile and Privacy Tab is where can really dig deep into your privacy settings.

** MOBILE – All I can say poor, I am still waiting for the activation code to enable it on my cell… So still waiting to figure out how it works on cell.

Hope this article helps you to learn bit about Google +….

Exercise - Migration of Standard Price and Price Books through Data Loader.

In order to add a product to a price book in Salesforce through the Data Loader, there is a specific sequence that must be followed.

In this process, we will need to assign a standard price and unit price to the PricebookEntry . **Note – For this we need to do the migration 2 times.

Step – 1 First we need to link the Product to Standard Price; for that there are 4 major things which we require -

Product2ID - which refers to Product ID

PriceBook2 ID – refers to Standard Price Book ID.

List Price – referes to the prices associated with products in custom price books.

ISACTIVE - should be TRUE – this price is available to products.

Name - Product Name which is not required.

** Prepare the excel file given below – (Refer the Screenshot # 1.1)

Step -2 Insert the data, and choose Price Book Entry(Pricebook Entry) in Data Loader. Make sure that you need to select the checkbox Show all Salesforce.com Objects.
[Refer the screen shot below]

Screen shot # 1.2

Step – 3 Auto match the fields to Columns (Refer screenshot 1.3) and push the data.
Screen shot # 1.3

Step – 4 Once we have associated the Standard Pricebook Entry, now we need to associate the Price Book. For this we need to follow the above mentioned steps, its just we need to change the Pricebook2 ID which will be our Pricebook ID.

Question - How to Convert date/time value to a date value (remove time portion) in Excel.
Scenario - Running short of time
Task - Need to push the data in Salesforce.com through the help of Data Loader.
Error Message – Error converting value to correct data type: Date Conversion FAILED.

Solution – Here we have a date/time value in cell A1 and we’d like to remove the time portion from this value. In cell B1, we’ve entered the following formula:
=MONTH(A1) & “/” & DAY(A1) & “/” & YEAR(A1)

Then paste the value (using paste special) in next cell. (See the screenshot below) -

It will be applied on the weekend (Friday night) of October 1 or October 8, depending on which instance the customer has been assigned to. You can visit http://trust.salesforce.com/ for more information on scheduled downtime and for status updates.

Key changes in this release include:

Automatic activation of Chatter, and significant changes to Chatter functionality.

Noticeable changes to the User Interface -
- The Search option, in particular, has moved to the top of the screen.
- The list of applications, log out, and help options have moved.

A real-time WYSIWYG report builder -
- While the new functionality is almost identical to the old functionality, the process for building reports has changed.
- If you have not already done so, please take the time to familiarize yourself with the new interface before assisting customers.

An improved System Log Console (will affect customers who fire Batch Classes manually) and improved VisualForce debugging tools.

This is by no means a complete list of the changes and enhancements in Winter ’11. For more information on the Winter ’11 release, visit the Winter ’11 Release Page (http://developer.force.com/releases/release/Winter11) and/or review the attached release notes.

For Blackberry – There are two ways to install Salesforce Mobile on a BlackBerry smartphone. You can download the application from either the Web or BlackBerry App World. To install the mobile client application on a :

BlackBerry smartphone from the Web:

Open your Web browser and navigate to the following URL: mobile.salesforce.com. If you received a Salesforce Mobile email message from your Salesforce.com administrator, you can also click the download link in the message.

Highlight the Download the application link and select Get Link from the menu.

Click Download to download the application. If prompted to replace an older version of the client application, click Yes.

Click Reboot to restart your device.

When prompted to allow an HTTP connection, select the tp.mobile.salesforce.com checkbox. Scroll down and click Allow this connection.

Click the Salesforce Mobile icon, which resides on the home page of your device or in the Applications folder. On newer phones, the icon may be in the Downloads folder.

Read the license agreement and click I Accept. | The Activation page appears.

Enter your Salesforce.com username and password.
Because many passwords contain special characters that are difficult to enter on the device, the Show Password checkbox is selected by default. To protect your password, deselect the option. An asterisk displays for each character you type.

Click Activate to verify your Salesforce.com account and activate the mobile application on the device.
After your username and password are confirmed by Salesforce.com, the data downloads. The initial data download may last a few minutes. Future updates to the data automatically occur behind the scenes.

NOTE - The minimum BlackBerry operating system requirement for the mobile application is 4.3. If you’re running versions 4.0–4.3 of the operating system, you can still download and install the mobile application; however, the mobile server will detect the older operating system and send version 11.6 of the mobile application, which was the last release that supported operating system versions 4.0–4.3. You can’t use any of the new features included in the current release or future releases until you upgrade to the most recent BlackBerry operating system for your phone.

To install the mobile client application on a BlackBerry smartphone from BlackBerry App World:

Click the BlackBerry App World icon.

If the icon is not available on your device, you might need to download BlackBerry App World**.
App World cannot run on all BlackBerry smartphones, so be sure to review Research in Motion’s system requirements before trying to install BlackBerry App World on your device. ** http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/appworld/download.jsp?

Click the Search icon.

Type salesforce in the Search field, then click the trackball.

In the search results, click Salesforce Mobile.

Click Download.

After the installation completes, click OK in the message window.

When prompted whether to permit Salesforce Mobile to access the phone, click Allow.

When prompted whether to permit the application to access tp.mobile.salesforce.com, click Yes.

Close BlackBerry App World.

Click the Salesforce Mobile icon, which resides on the home page of your device or in the Applications folder. On newer phones, the icon may be in the Downloads folder.

Read the license agreement and click I Accept. – >> The Salesforce Mobile Activation page appears.

Enter your Salesforce.com username and password.
Because many passwords contain special characters that are difficult to enter on the device, the Show Password checkbox is selected by default. To protect your password, deselect the option. An asterisk displays for each character you type.

Click Activate to verify your Salesforce.com account and activate Salesforce Mobile on the device.
After your username and password are confirmed by Salesforce.com, the data is downloaded, and the icon pulses to show activity. The initial data download may last a few minutes. Future updates to the data occur automatically.

iPhone Installation – To install the mobile client application on an iPhone or iPod touch:

From the Home screen of your iPhone or iPod touch, tap the App Store icon.

Tap Search.

Tap the Search field to open the keyboard. Type Salesforce.

Tap Salesforce Mobile in the list of search results.

Tap Salesforce Mobile to view information about the application.

Tap Free, and then tap Install.
Note - It does not cost money to download the application from the App Store. Enterprise, Professional, Unlimited, and Developer Edition users with mobile licenses can run Salesforce Mobile, the full version of the mobile application. Users without a mobile license can run Mobile Lite, the free, restricted version of the mobile application.

Enter your iTunes Store account and password and tap OK.
After you begin downloading the mobile application, its icon appears on your Home screen and shows the status of the download and installation.

The first time you launch the mobile application on your device, you must activate your Salesforce.com account by logging in and downloading data. Verify that your phone is connected to a network.
Note – For greater performance and reliability, use a Wi-Fi network instead of a cellular network when activating the mobile application.

Tap the Salesforce.com icon on the Home screen.

Tap I Accept.

On the activation screen, enter your Salesforce.com username and password. Tap Done to close the keyboard.

Tap Activate.
Warning – Do not close the window or let the device lock. If the application closes, the iPhone operating systemstops the application from running, which causes the activation to fail.

The application opens after Salesforce.com accepts your username and password and downloads your records.
